The price of a driving school course
The price of a driving school course for foreigners is 23,000 CZK when paid in cash at the driving school classroom, or when paying the full amount immediately by QR code.
If a foreigner wants a driving school in installments, the total price is 23,000 + VAT, so 28,000 CZK, and individual installments are calculated from this. The first installment upon registration is at least 5,000 CZK.
To this price must be added the costs of interpreting lessons, training, and final exams into English. The price depends on how much the student uses the interpreter’s services and is paid directly to the interpreter.
What does the driving school include?
If a foreigner does not hold a driver’s license, they must complete the full mandatory course required by Czech law, which is the same for both foreigners and Czech citizens.
In our driving school, the theory is organized into four consultation blocks, which are interpreted into English. These blocks also include time to clarify uncertainties and check self-study.
Students also get access to eStudovna and eTests, which can be upgraded to the English version for home study.
At the last consultation, the student’s knowledge is tested. If the student understands the regulations, they can move on to the practical training, which includes 14 drives in the school’s training vehicle.
After completing the practical drives, the student is registered for the final exam. If more lessons are needed, extra drives can be purchased. Otherwise, no further payment is required during the course.
Absences must be reported 24 hours in advance; otherwise, the lesson is forfeited.
If the student already holds a non-EU driving license (group B):
A simplified process is available. The student’s skills are individually assessed and the course is adapted accordingly.
The student must attend one theoretical block (1,500 CZK, or 500 CZK/hour), and then one 90-minute drive (1,300 CZK). Based on this, the required number of additional drives will be agreed upon.
A discounted package of drives can be offered, similar to those listed for Czech citizens on the website.
The exam fee is 1,500 CZK for the driving school + 700 CZK administrative fee. If the student wants the school to arrange everything, they pay 2,500 CZK total and don’t need to deal with the office.
Interpreter costs are again paid directly to the interpreter.
What is needed to enroll?
An online application is optional — the student can also register in person.
To enroll, the student needs:
• A medical certificate from a general practitioner in the Czech Republic (not older than 30 days)
• A document from the Population Register proving a stay of more than 185 days (from Czech POINT at the Czech Post Office)
• A valid identity document
• Payment
Enrollment process
It’s best to arrange everything with an interpreter, gather the documents, and come together for registration. A special appointment can be scheduled for this purpose.
After registration, the driving school will begin. The theory teacher will discuss how the course will proceed.
The course is more individualized and efficient for foreigners than for Czech students.
During practical drives, the interpreter can sit in the back and assist. The first few drives are the most important — later, the instructors’ basic English is usually enough.
If the student insists on having an interpreter present at all times and is willing to pay for it, the school is fine with that.
